Chokecherry (40 Cubic Inch)

Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) is the hardy workhorse of our region.  During spring, it has fragrant white flowers that develop into an attractive fruit.  These “cherries” are popular with wildlife and edible but very bitter to humans, as long as you avoid the seeds which are toxic.
