MFP’s 5th Annual Native Plant Sale
Proceeds from this sale support our mission to restore, protect and enhance Montana’s rivers and wetlands
Please review the information below for purchasing and pickup instructions.
Go wild with native plants!
Through a partnership with Great Bear Native Plants in Hamilton, MFP has selected plants that can be found along our local rivers, wildflower meadows, and prairie grasslands. Why native plants? Because native plants are adapted to our local weather, soil and water conditions. Native plants also provide important shelter and food sources for wildlife and pollinators.
What’s new this year?
To accomodate the growing number of customers and keep the pick-up process smooth, we are pre-packing all orders this year. No need to bring a box–just arrive during the pick-up window of 9AM to 12PM and we will provide your plants pre-packaged! Thank you.
Also, please note that the 2026 pick-up location is in the Steer Barn (Ice Rink Arena) at the Park County Fairgrounds.
We’ll have extra inventory available for purchase later in the day on May 9th from 12:30-2 PM at the Park County Fairgrounds. Please note that these plants will not be available for purchase before 12:30PM. The plant species available for sale will be identical to what was available online for pre-order.
During this part of the day, we’ll be joined by experts with resources from our organization, as well as the Park County Environmental Council, MSU Extension, and others, offering guidance and information on gardening, pollinators, and more. We will also have compost for sale from Happy Trash Can!

Understanding What Size Plant You are Ordering
Plant sizes can be found next to the plant name in our online store. Depending on the species, plants are will come in 7, 10, 40 or 60 cubic inch plugs or 1 gallon containers. A 7 cubic inch plug, for example, has a 1.5 inch soil diameter and 5.5 inch soil depth. These are very small plants, but they’re a great way to try out new species in your yard at an affordable price and they often grow pretty quickly. Please watch this quick video put together by Aimee at Great Bear Native Plants to get a better idea of the various plant sizes.
